This Fighting-type Pokemon has previously lacked the sustain it needed to become a true contender in the ring, but now the boxing bear can deliver deadly punches all day thanks to the health it gains from Drain Punch. Bewear (Normal / Fighting-type)īewear may not look as intimidating as some Pokemon on this list, but its ability to deliver knockout hits is devastating. Ground type moves like High Horsepower and Earthquake can quickly sweep your team if you’re not careful, so be on the lookout for horsey hijinks when Mudsdale’s around. Its Stamina ability greatly increases defence whenever it gets attacked, and makes this muddy horse a fantastic damage sponge. Mudsdale’s ground-typing make it the perfect counter to the increasingly popular poison, fire and electric-types that populate the Alola region. High doses of HP, defense and attack make this equine Pokemon a great pick for those looking to wreak havoc in competitive battles. Mudsdale’s may be on the slower side of the Pokemon speed spectrum and its special attack is far from special, but this mud-loving horse is still super strong. Lastly, Incineroar has great versatility thanks to all the TM’s and move tutor moves it can learn, making it a great asset to any team. Meanwhile, the hidden ability, Intimidate, decreases the damage taken from physical attacks, which is by far the most common attack type you’ll face in online battles. Incineroar’s signature move Darkest Lariat is great at dealing damage and ignores any changes to the target's defense and evasion stats. However, what really makes Incineroar stand out is its hidden ability and wide movepool. Incineroar has the highest HP and attack out of all the starter evolutions, and its base defense and special defense give this fiery feline the bulk it needs to take a few hits. Moves like Drill Run, Fire Fang and Iron Head will be even more damaging, while Lycanroc’s overall speed will ensure that you win most trades. Dusk Form Lycanroc has huge damage potential thanks to its Tough Claws ability, which boosts the power of contact moves by 30%. However, the best form is easily the new Dusk Form that was introduced in Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. Lycanroc has three unique variants and the form it takes upon evolving depends on the game it was evolved in. Lycanroc was very popular among trainers in Sun and Moon as it delivered both power and speed, something that Rock-type Pokemon have traditionally struggled with. Combine this with Kommo-o’s ability to tank incoming attacks and heal/damage foes with moves like Drain Punch, and you have a ridiculously powerful Pokemon. ![]() This upgraded move inflicts damage and increases the user's attack, defense, special attack, special defense, and speed stats by one stage each. Giving Kommo-o access to the new Kommonium Z item will also allow it to upgrade its Clanging Scales into the special Z-Move Clangorous Soulblaze. In addition, Kommo-o also has decent attack (110) and special attack stats (100), giving this dragon great sweeping potential. Its abilities of Bulletproof, Soundproof, and Overcoat help protect it against various status effects and one-hit KO moves. This pseudo-legendary may not be the fastest Pokemon in Ultra Sun and Moon, but its high base defences of 125 and 105 allow the Alolan dragon to effectively tank incoming damage. Make sure you familiarise yourself with Silvally, as this Pokemon’s versatility will make it a popular pick among competitive trainers. Moves like Tailwind and Last Resort make Silvally incredibly supportive and highly-damaging, especially when playing doubles. This system changes the type of Silvally depending on the Memory it holds, giving the chimeric creature the ability to cover your team’s various weaknesses. Silvally also has access to a huge movepool due to the RKS System. This not only makes Silvally an excellent counter-pick, but adds to its overall versatility as it can be either a physical or special attacker. ![]() Silvally is only slightly weaker than legendaries like Mew and Jirachi, while it shares the same base stats of Sun Moon’s Ultra Beasts. The competitive side of Pokemon has always been unforgiving, but with our list of mighty monsters, you’ll be the best, like no one ever was! Silvally (Normal-type) However, if you want to maximise your chances of winning against other trainers, you’ll want to net yourself the best Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have to offer. ![]() Some trainers want only the strongest companions to fill their roster, while most simply pick their favourites based on looks. Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are absolutely brimming with new and returning monsters to befriend and catch. ![]() It is a very big departure from the epic, OTT battles and strategies of the Warhammer games, and there seems to be a lot more nuance in the way that Thrones plays out. Similarly, there seems to be quite a lot of tactical variety in how you can play your battles out, and the timing and targets of your charges and counter-charges can win or lose a battle. With Thrones of Britannia, there are nine standard deployments you can use and customise from, and so far I've found a very distinct use for each one depending on terrain, numbers and the type of opposing army. I had similar issues with Medieval 2 and the Romes, but maybe that's just how I played them out. In Empire, for example, your formations are usually the same (musket in the middle, artillery on the flanks and cavalry on you far flanks) with little scope for variety, which means your battles play out more or less the same each time. One thing that I've had issue with in a lot of Total War games is that the battles can get a bit formulaic. There is a Welsh faction in Scotland, which seems a bit weird, but I guess that's a nod to the linguistically different Celts (the Brythonic speakers rather than the later-arriving Gaelic speakers). Historically, the game is a pretty good depiction of late 9th century Britain, with the various factions occupying the right places and feeling as they should as you play them. There are various vital mechanics regarding your generals that would be way too micro-managey in a larger scale game. It took a bit of getting used to after the truly epic scale of the Warhammer ones and Empire (I'm a sucker for 18th Century history and have played that one to absolute death), but once you get the hang of it there's a surprising amount of depth that comes with the scale. It took a bit of getting used to after the truly epic I've played most of the Total War games and this one is a worthy addition to the series. I've played most of the Total War games and this one is a worthy addition to the series. Yet I fully expect to get as many hours out of this. The soundtrack is really immersive - The period appropriate art style works really well. Elite and retinue units actually feel valuable now. No elites on demand, you actually have to think through what units you're going to recruit and when, as they take several turns to fully muster. The new recruitment mechanics make armies a lot more interesting. To start with, positives in no particular order: - The campaign map is absolutely gorgeous. Gamemaker is a bit of hassle to get pixelated graphics working correctly. So, if you in the situation described above, start a new pal project import the new, crushed version of the sprite, and your actual palette will represent the new, smaller palettes. Two important questions for any programming language/software you choose:ĭoes it allow you to have fully pixelated graphics?ĭoes it have support for palette swapping? I worked for awhile to make this better, but ultimately it was a ton of work, and I'll improve this feature in future versions. And, obviously, whatever the sprite was originally named has been lost. Inside: all your sprites with the desired palette.ĭownsides? If you have TON of sprites like this, they must be added to the palette builder one at a time (sorry). pal file for the current project called exported. This feature works for those of you in the above situation, but also those who don't want to actually palette swap anything at run time, they just want to mess with some colors and re-export their sprites with the new palette.Īfter saving your project locally, you can press X to export all your loaded sprites using the currently selected palette so as it would appear in the preview window at the time. then what? The palette itself still has 34 entries or whatever. Okay, now you have a palette with reduced colors but. You may need to modify the resulting colors again just like any palette, but the overall color count should be reduced, sometimes significantly. Every time you use this, a new palette will be added to your project with the new crushed palette. This results in similar colors being combined. What crushing does is it will divide each RGB element by your crush factor, floor the result and then re-multiply them by the factor. What the hell is a crush factor? Think about it like this: Every color is made up of 3 RGB values, each 0-255. A dialog will pop up asking you for a "crush factor". With an active project, press C on the keyboard. So what are these features?ĭoes your art have too many colors that are just too similar to one another that it's driving you crazy and your artist doesn't seem to understand that #45B292 & #45B192 shouldn't both be used in the same sprite, then this feature is for you. I was planning on doing all sorts of crazy stuff, but decided to save it for 4.0 (which will be a full rebuild from the ground up in WPF instead of GML. I fixed a crash when trying to interact with the preview box without loading any sprites (Thanks for reporting, Adam!) In addition to updates to the shader itself, I've add a minor update to the Palette Builder. So, really, can't emphasize enough for HTML users to double check the Actual texture page size. It was a suggestion by Sidorakh (fellow GM Discord Admin) to export it and see the ACTUAL size. I set my texture page to 2048 but it just would not work. This actually tripped me up for awhile while developing the shader for HTML. Turns out, that no matter what you have it set to, if you have a single page and GM can fit it in something smaller than you set it to, it will export it at that smaller size. But if it doesn't seem to be working at all or very inaccurately, try going back into your global game settings and previewing your texture page. In most cases, this will be the resolution you selected in your global game settings. ![]() If you open up either of the HTML5 shaders, you will find a #define for "TexturePageSize". Speaking of which, I think I need to re-iterate one of the new requirements for HTML5. These constants are available in all 3 pal swap shaders. In most cases, I recommend leaving it at. If you feel it's not matching colors it should, increase this number until it feels right. Modifying the tolerance value will affect how accurate palette swapping is. However, if you were digging the more lenient color swapping, I have made it available for you to customize. Swapping has now returned to the previous level of accuracy that I had in version 1.x.Ģ. Especially if you are using some clever way to prevent specific parts of the sprite from drawing with an alternate palette, as Ajmal was.ġ. So, in the previous 2.0, when using an alt palette every single pixel you draw WILL use a color from the alt palette. Alright, so, after working with Ajmal who is using the asset in his recent game jam game, I realized that my idea to make palette swapping "more lenient" was probably a bad idea. ![]() Roblox Image via Aspect ProductionsĪlthough it is geared towards kids and teens, Roblox is a great game for anyone to enjoy if they want to build something of their own within their Lego-inspired world.
